How we write our guides
Our guides help you read and negotiate the contract in front of you. Here's how we write them, check them and keep them up to date.

Who writes them
Our guides are published by the DealMate Editorial Team. We don't put individual names on them: every guide goes through the same process, and the team stands behind it.
How we use AI
We use AI tools to research and draft. Nothing is published as it comes out:
- We start from a brief: who the guide is for, the situation they're in and what they need to decide.
- AI tools help us write a draft.
- A second, different AI model checks the draft line by line for errors, overstatements and missing caveats.
- We check every factual claim against its source. If we can't confirm it, we cut it.
- A person on our team reads the whole guide and approves it before it goes live.
Sources
We cite primary sources where they exist: the text of a law or regulation, official government guidance, and standard forms from the bodies that publish them. Every guide lists its sources at the end. For standard contracts, we link to the original instead of copying it.
Examples
Every company, person and amount in our examples is made up. We never use contracts that our users upload.
Not legal advice
Our guides are general information, not legal advice. Laws differ between countries and states, and every deal is different. For high-stakes or unusual terms, talk to a lawyer.
Keeping guides up to date
Every guide shows the date it was last reviewed. We review each guide at least once every 12 months, and sooner when a law or standard form it relies on changes.
Corrections
If you spot a mistake, email dealmate@onecontract-cloud.com. If we got something wrong, we fix the guide and add a dated note at the end saying what changed.
Comparisons with other tools
We make DealMate, so our comparison guides aren't neutral, and we say so on the page. We describe other tools from their public information, say what each one does well, and note the date we checked. We don't accept payment for placement.
